Howland Green integrated over 16 advanced green features to completely rethink standard building performance:

• Geothermal Energy & Solar Array: The building relies heavily on a state-of-the-art geo-exchange system for heating and cooling, paired with a massive rooftop photovoltaic (solar panel) array to generate clean, on-site electricity.

• The “Box” Construction: Built using upgraded Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) that create a massive thermal envelope. The roof features a minimum insulation rating of R80—far exceeding standard building codes.

• High-Performance Windows: Equipped with triple-glazed fiberglass, Low-E Argon-filled windows designed to reflect summer heat while trapping winter warmth.

• Water Conservation: A specialized cistern system captures rainwater and surface runoff, filtering and recycling it for toilet flushing and local landscaping irrigation.

• Economic Impact: Because of this intense focus on conservation, the building was designed to significantly lower operational costs, translating to remarkably lower condo and utility fees for its residents.
